This week’s featured project comes to us from The Big Easy, the birthplace of jazz, The Crescent City-New Orleans, Louisiana, where PG NOLA turns out wraps that draw worldwide attention.

This beauty was featured in the hard copy edition of Sign & Digital Graphics in January of this year, but it deserves a spot on the World Wide Web, where it will live forever. Enjoy!

“We started this project by having to do tons of bodywork and sanding down the entire car to remove the original clear coat that was failing when it was brought in. Bondo and primer had to be used to fill in areas of trouble, some areas, like the driver door, were very bad and eventually had to be sanded down to the bare metal.

The Joker has Avery Dennison SW900 Supreme Gloss Metallic Bright Blue as the underlays for the “HaHaHaHaHa.” Sides, hood and trunk are wrapped in purple chrome. The roof is wrapped in several films. The main Joker girl print was done on the new Avery Dennison MPI 1105 digital media, then laminated with Diamond Line Laminate. The rest of the roof was wrapped in green chrome with Avery Dennison Diamond Line laminate as well as regular green chrome. It also has silver chrome and red chrome as the custom pin striping, which is actually two different Joker quotes. One says “Smile, because it confuses people. Smile, because it’s easier than explaining what is killing you inside!” The other side says “We stopped checking for monsters under our beds when we realized they were inside us! HaHaHaHa.”

The most detailed part of the roof is the custom embossing/engraving style technique that PG NOLA developed in-house, which gives a much more pronounced look and feel. It is a diamond pattern we created to fit that rear pillar of each side of the roof and also has the words “THE JOKER” in it, too. The hood Joker was printed on black chrome and trimmed in red Diamond Line and then silver leaf. The remainder of the hood is done in purple chrome. The trunk was printed on silver chrome, trimmed in red Diamond Line and silver leaf and finished off with purple chrome. Both hood and truck shapes were custom designed specifically to fit this vehicle’s body lines and shape. The hood design lines match the roof perfectly!

We then wrapped the stock chrome bumpers in green chrome with Diamond Line laminate and all the bolts to hold the bumper were done with green chrome to have a bit of contrast. The front and back Chevy badges were wrapped in silver leaf along with the trim rings on the rear taillights. The front headlight bezels, lower bumper center/insert, rear center trim and lower bumper insert were all wrapped in silver Diamond Line. The window trim all the way around, front grill trim, rear trim and side IMPALA molding insert was all wrapped in red Diamond Line. The wheels were wrapped in green chrome, purple chrome and a custom made silver Diamond Line w/ green laminate for the outer edge, which looks insane out in the sun on that radius. The dashboard was wrapped in purple chrome with a green insert and pinstriped in red Diamond Line. All four corners of the car have silver leaf ornate designs specifically made to fit those areas. Front, rear and side windows all have custom fitment frosted sparkle etched glass film for that true lowrider feel. Door jams are wrapped in purple and green chrome, too. Lastly, the “HaHaHaHaH” underlays were trimmed down a bit and redone as overlays with a custom silver Diamond Line with purple laminate. They are sized a hair smaller than the underlay, to give a cool step or double-edged look.”
