EducationQ&A

What are the drawbacks of relying too much on the internet for marketing?

If you rely on the internet as the largest, or only, element of your marketing efforts, it requires constant attention and a few hours a week on your regular agenda. If you let that slide, your bottom line will reflect that.

First and foremost, it is easy to fall behind on technology. The longer you ignore becoming compliant to the way Google and other tech giants provide consumers with information, the less effective your online marketing efforts are going to be. When Facebook changes its method of adding business pages and promotional content to their users’ news feed, changes need to be made in order to remain relevant in that space.

The internet changes quickly and frequently, and without constant maintenance and a sharp eye on the growth, trends, and changes, a solid marketing plan can crumble due to technology moving forward and leaving you behind.

Finally, leaving any web property sitting idle will render it irrelevant altogether. Social media accounts need to be active in order to be useful, and websites need to be updated, telling the search engines and bots that the site is indeed active and operational. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean it’s working on your behalf – you have to breathe life into it on a regular basis.
