Cutting Stainless Steel with a CO2 Laser
Attain a shiny cut-edge with this highly-resistant metal.
When cutting stainless steel, use a longer focal length lens so the cut kerf is wider; high-pressure nitrogen assists gas to remove dross; and to achieve a quality shiny cut-edge. Other things like dropping the focus to the bottom edge of thicker stainless will also help reduce the amount of slag/dross. There are many tips that go with all different wattages of lasers, along with differences between a fiber laser and CO2 laser. That’s why we recommend asking questions and having samples cut for you.
