Best Substrates for Sublimation

New to sublimation? Learn more about which base materials work with sublimation.

Regardless of what the application is, the substrate that is chosen as the base material for the product you are creating must, of course, be suitable for the sublimation process. Substrates for sublimation generally fall into the following physical categories:

  • Hard poly fiber products or fiber re-enforced plastic (FRP)
  • Coated metal products
  • Coated wood products
  • Coated ceramic products
  • Soft poly fiber products
  • Poly-performance or polyester-based fabric
  • Stone/slate products
  • Glass and acrylic products

Ultimately, this means plenty of unique and creative high-margin blanks to choose from, with the key factor being that they are either composed of polyester fibers or have a polymer coating.
