The direction is based on their demand for speed, simplicity, and ease of use. Consider the rising interest in voice command devices. Taking on the time-consuming and exhausting task of picking up the phone and calling in an order for pizza is being replaced by a small device that allows you to say, “Alexa, order pizza.” These things might seem trivial, but this generation grew up using technology and they have come to expect it in everyday life.
In regard to social media, it is their online space – their own controlled community. Social media feeds them the information they’re interested in, from staying informed about what friends and family are doing to where and when their favorite band is playing next.
This way of operating is rapidly becoming the future, and retailers need to adapt to it in order to survive.
