Change the nozzle when it starts to widen, check the moisture traps, and when your abrasive takes longer to etch, it’s time to change it out with fresh stuff. If you’re using a siphon-based system, you’ll need to empty and run through a screen occasionally in order to get bits of vinyl and glass strained out.
